Turkish Document Apostille for the Netherlands

The Netherlands is a Hague Apostille Convention member. For most Turkish public documents destined for use there, a single apostille is sufficient — no Dutch embassy or consulate step in Ankara is required.

That does not mean every Dutch receiving office will accept the file as soon as the apostille stamp is on it. Immigration, municipal, and employer checklists often add their own rules on top.

The process

1. Sworn translation into Dutch (or English, if the receiving office has said English is accepted in writing)
2. Notarization of the translator’s signature
3. Apostille, issued by the provincial administration (kaymakamlık/valilik). The apostille is affixed to the notary’s signature. University diplomas on this Hague path do not go to Turkish MFA and do not require YÖK.

What to check before assuming this is all you need

• IND and employer files — residence, work, and highly-skilled-migrant submissions often want a recent extract plus a Dutch-language sworn translation. An apostille authenticates the signature and seal; it does not replace an IND document list.
• Gemeente (municipality) civil-status files sometimes insist the apostille sit on the original Turkish extract, not only on the translation. Confirm which sheet they will file.
• University diplomas — Hague ends at apostille. YÖK is not required. MEB is not required for high-school apostille. See our diploma legalization guide.
• Adjudicative/legal documents (court rulings, criminal record certificates) use a different apostille authority than standard documents — confirm before starting.
